Hello Reader, Before we get into this week's gluten-free news, I have to tell you: our September Love Me Gluten Free boxes ship MONDAY, and it's such a good one. I don't want to give too much away, but here are a few hints about what's to come:
If you've been thinking about trying LMGF, September is a great month to jump in. And don't forget to use the code SEPTEMBER20 for 20% off your first box at lovemeglutenfree.com. Is This the Golden Age of Gluten-Free?When I was diagnosed with celiac disease 14 years ago, going gluten-free meant saying goodbye to a lot of foods I loved - and maybe even took for granted. Honestly, I assumed many of those foods would be gone forever. But lately, I've been thinking: Are we living in the golden age of gluten-free? Look at what's happened in recent years. Oreo made gluten-free Oreos. Kraft gave us gluten-free Mac & Cheese. Cheez-It finally went gluten-free. Feel Good Foods just launched gluten-free onion rings. And Goldfish, one of the most requested gluten-free products in the brand's history, is launching a gluten-free version in November. These aren't obscure gluten-free substitutes trying to imitate the real thing. These are the real brands reinventing their iconic products just for us. And that is a big deal because, for as long as I can remember, gluten-free wasn't even in the consideration set. But today, it's part of the strategy. We've spent years It finally feels like they're listening. ❤️ 🍴 Gluten-Free in MarylandI spent a few days in Maryland dropping off my daughter at school (it was hard to say goodbye 😭 ... but I'm so excited for her and this next chapter), and of course we squeezed in a little gluten-free eating along the way. BIBIBOP: This was my first time at BIBIBOP, and friends, it was worth the hype! It's a fast-casual restaurant where you build your own Korean bowl with rice or noodles, protein, veggies, and sauces. The entire menu is gluten-free! Consider yourself lucky if you live near one. I'm going to write them a letter every day until they open one near me in Denver. 😅 Nando's: I first fell in love with Nando's when I visited London in 2018, so I was thrilled to find one in Maryland! Nando's is a South African-born restaurant known for flame-grilled chicken marinated for 24 hours in a signature PERi-PERi sauce. The menu is mostly gluten-free with a few easy-to-identify exceptions. And yes, you can eat the FRIES. They only cook fries in their fryer (of course, verify at your location). Those PERi-PERi fries are seriously some of the best fries around. Until next time... 📰 Look Whose Featured!I was so excited to be featured in Gluten Free & More magazine alongside a few of my favorite creators, @philhatesgluten and @celiacwithkayla! ❤️ If you love discovering new gluten-free recipes, products, and what's happening in our community, this is one magazine worth having in your mailbox. 🍞 BFree Spotlight: Cinnamon Sugar ToastAugust was a my back-to-school box, and my team reminded me of a fun after-school snack so many of us grew up eating: cinnamon sugar toast! I used the newly reformulated BFree Rustic Oat Loaf to make it. Just toast a hearty slice, add a pat of butter, and sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar. That's it! You can watch me make it in this video. The Rustic Oat Loaf is made with certified gluten-free rolled oats that are sourced from a dedicated environment. It's high in fiber, and contains vitamins B and D plus calcium. So you can feel good about sinking your teeth into this one! I've spotted the bread at Target and my local King Soopers, so look for it where you find BFree products or check the company's store locator. Pro Tip! Toasting or heating this bread will bring out its best taste and texture. Goodbye August 👋And with that, it's officially time to say goodbye to our beautiful August box. I hope you're putting all those back-to-school goodies to good use. Next week, September! And I cannot wait to show you what's inside. Boy are you all in for another treat! 👀 Sincerely, Jenny Follow on Instagram, Facebook, and/or TikTok. Order a Love Me Gluten Free Subscription Box - September boxes ship on Monday! Hello Reader, I just spent the last few days at a food show called Newtopia Now. As usual, I was on the hunt for new products and brands to share with you. 👀 Please look at my latest Instagram post. I feature some of the coolest new + emerging products I found. Here's a sneak peek at two of my favs finds: Power Soul Cafe is a dedicated gluten-free fast-casual chain in Las Vegas. They now ship their pizzas nationwide. Giadzy is a new pasta brand created by celebrity chef, Giada De Laurentiis....
Hello Reader, We've come a long way when it comes to celiac disease awareness, advocacy, and gluten-free education. But this week has reminded me just how much work we still have to do. From gluten hiding in unexpected places to confusing food-labeling laws, there's still plenty we need to know, question, and advocate for. So let's get into it. ❤️ Why We Need Barley Clearly Disclosed on Food Labels Last week, I posted on Instagram that Popsicle Fudgsicles contain malted barley extract, aka...
Hello Reader, Honestly, friends, I can't make this stuff up. Spanx founder Sara Blakely recently shared a video from her trip to Italy on Instagram, saying that she and a friend "are two girls who are gluten-free and ate every single thing with gluten in Italy." She also showed the heavy suitcases full of Italian flour they brought home. Whether intentional or not, posts like these reinforce one of the biggest myths in the gluten-free community: that people with celiac disease can somehow...
