GLP-1s and Autoimmune Disease - We Need to TalkThis week on the Gluten Free Unwrapped podcast, I had one of the most fascinating conversations with Lorin Smith, founder of Good Gluten Free Grub. Lorin is managing both celiac disease and type 1 diabetes, and a few years ago, she decided to use a GLP-1 to help mitigate symptoms for both. All I can say is… you have to listen to her story. This conversation made me think so differently about GLP-1s, beyond just weight loss drugs, and more as a tool to help manage autoimmune and chronic conditions. Truly mind blown. 🎧 Listen on my blog or wherever you get your podcasts (Apple + Spotify). Brand Spotlight: EpilynxConsider me obsessed with Epilynx, a woman-owned gluten-free skincare and cosmetics company. Epilynx was founded by Dr. Liia, who follows a strict gluten-free diet herself and understands the need for high-quality, safe, and affordable products you can use with confidence. We featured Epilynx's Strawberry Lip Balm in our April Love Me Gluten Free box (adorable, right?), but keep in mind, Epilynx offers so many more products, too. I urge you to take a look at the Epilynx website and check out what they have to offer. I feel like they have so many products that work for all skin types, including mature skin. 👉 And stock up... because the code LOVEMEGF will get you 35% off!! Banza Introduces Wheat PastaBanza recently introduced a new wheat-chickpea pasta. I first saw it at an expo last month and had mixed feelings. This week, they formally launched it to their community, and honestly, I think they did a really good job making the gluten-free community feel seen in the process. The founder acknowledges it head-on: “I recognize a wheat product from Banza might feel unexpected.” He goes on to reassure customers that the wheat pasta will be made in a separate facility, and the packaging will look completely different (it’s bright blue, see it here), so no one picks it up by mistake. Miss GF Manners Tackles Bringing Your Own FoodIs it rude to bring your own food when you have celiac disease or gluten intolerance? Miss GF Manners (that’s me 😊) tackles this question with the nuance and care it deserves. Happy Holidays!Wishing you and your loved ones a beautiful and meaningful Easter (if you celebrate). I hope you enjoy some delicious gluten-free food and a special time with friends and family. And to my Jewish friends, wishing you a Chag Sameach and Happy Passover. See you next week! Hello Reader, Next month, Love Me Gluten Free turns two. And we’ve come a long way since those humble beginnings in my basement, where friends and family helped me pack our very first boxes. Remember my first box ever? It was themed "Love From Colorado" and featured brands from my home state. This business hasn’t been easy, but it has been incredibly rewarding. I’m grateful to every single one of you who has supported this journey, whether you’ve purchased a box, followed along through these...
Hello Reader, It's the first day of spring, and I've got a new Nima test, fun recipes, new product finds (and discounts), and more. Let's get to it! Testing Drumroll Donuts 🍩 I think I’m losing my mind. I saw a celiac creator post about Drumroll donuts, saying they contain oats, but when I checked the ingredient list. There are no oats. Regardless, I thought, let's go ahead and test them with my Nima, just to put everyone's mind at ease. As you know, I have a bit of a love-hate relationship...
Hello Reader, Many of you have told me how much my weekly newsletter means to you, and truly, that feedback never gets old. That said… a few of you have gently (and not-so-gently 😉) mentioned that my Friday emails can be a bit long. Fair. I do tend to have a lot to say. This week, I’m trying two shorter newsletters you can quickly scan and enjoy. Let’s see how it goes. Feedback is always welcome! Exciting Changes at LMGF As many of you know, I also founded Love Me Gluten Free, a subscription...
