My New Restaurant ObsessionYesterday, I met my friend Jennifer Bigler (@livingfreelyglutenfree) for lunch at Sweetgreen, which is my new restaurant obsession. Sweetgreen is a fast-casual chain specializing in healthy, made-to-order salads and warm bowls. Not everything on the menu is gluten-free, but the menu is well-marked, and I feel there are good protocols in place that minimize the risk of cross-contamination. Of course, there's always a risk, but I feel it's low at Sweetgreen. I always ask the server to wash their hands and change their gloves before preparing my meal. I also ask the server to grab some ingredients from untouched containers from the back. A few of the items (like the almonds and crispy rice) are located a little too close to the croutons. I've tried a few of their salads, and I always come back to the Crispy Rice Salad. It's a beauty made with arugula lettuce, wild rice, cucumbers, cabbage, carrots, warm chicken, almonds, and crispy rice. I topped mine with a lime cilantro dressing, but it usually comes topped with spicy cashew dressing. Sweetgreen now offers amazing air-fried ripple fries!! They're fresh-sliced potatoes that are air-fried to a crisp and served with pickle ketchup (my choice) or aioli. The fast casual chain is growing fast, so check their website to see if there's a restaurant near you. Sweet Treats for YOU!I recently featured Sweet Chaos popcorn in my April Love Me Gluten Free box, and so many of you have asked me where to get more. I realize it's not easy to find! Amazon carries a few flavors,* and please check Sweet Chaos's Store Locator to find stores that have it and are located near you. All Sweet Chaos products are made with better-for-you ingredients and contain no GMOs or preservatives. I eat this popcorn by the handful and love both its sweet and savory flavors. 😉 I ❤️ Whoa! Dough cookie dough bars and featured two of their best-selling flavors inside my April box. Today, however, I want to tell you about Whoa! Dough's ready-to-bake cookie dough. If you've bought gluten-free cookie dough before and thought it was meh (even though you desperately wanted to like it), you're in for a treat with Whoa! Dough. The cookie dough bakes up soft, chewy, and delicious. We left them on the counter overnight, and they were just as good the next day. 👉 Use the code LOVEMEDOUGH for 20% off any purchase at whoadough.com. And if you make a purchase, send me your receipt. My current lip balm was leaving a waxy sensation on my lips, so I began researching other gluten-free lip balms and stumbled upon Kind Lips. You may not have heard of Kind Lips because it's not a "mainstream" brand, but I assure you, if you love lip balm, you're going to enjoy the soothing effects of Kind Lips. It's made with all organic ingredients, including coconut oil, beeswax, olive oil, shea butter, jojoba seed oil, and vitamin E, and it's clearly labeled "GF." I asked the founder why he named his company Kind Lips. He explained that every time someone applies the balm, it encourages them to use their voice to spread kindness, not hate. So when you say, “put on your Kind Lips,” you’re not just using lip balm—you’re making a conscious choice to speak with kindness. This is a message we can all get behind! 👉 Use the code BEKIND20 for 20% off at kindlips.com. If you make a purchase, send me your receipt. I have a thank-you gift for you. Hello Reader, I recently spotted a certified gluten-free product (GFCO certified!) that also had a label saying, "May contain wheat." Wait… what? Turns out, the product is made in a shared facility—not on shared equipment—and the manufacturer added the warning as a legal precaution. I spoke with the brand owner, who assured me the product tests below 10 ppm of gluten, which meets GFCO’s strict standards (stricter than the FDA's 20 ppm!). She’s planning to change the label to say,...
Hello Reader, I wanted to drop a few exciting updates into your inbox mid-week. First off, people in gluten-free land have lost their minds at the idea that Cheez-Its are coming out with a gluten-free version of its beloved cracker. Yes, it's exciting news when large companies make products for us and finally recognize the importance of our small but mighty community. However, the news was not earth-shattering for me, as I was like, "Where have you been this whole time?" Image credit to a...
