Hello Reader, We've come a long way when it comes to celiac disease awareness, advocacy, and gluten-free education. But this week has reminded me just how much work we still have to do. From gluten hiding in unexpected places to confusing food-labeling laws, there's still plenty we need to know, question, and advocate for. So let's get into it. ❤️ Why We Need Barley Clearly Disclosed on Food LabelsLast week, I posted on Instagram that Popsicle Fudgsicles contain malted barley extract, aka gluten. The post took off, probably because it's such an easy ingredient to miss in a product that looks pretty innocent. It was a good reminder that gluten is found in more than just products that contain wheat. And it highlights a bigger problem: While wheat must be clearly disclosed as a major allergen in the U.S., barley and rye do not. That's why the newly introduced FASTER Act of 2026 matters. If passed, it would require gluten-containing grains, including barley and rye, to be clearly disclosed on food labels. 87 countries already require this. The U.S. doesn't. Ho hum. Until then, keep reading those labels, friends. Especially on products that look innocent. Watch my Fudgsicle video here → Read more about the FASTER Act here → Meet the August BoxI'll let you in on a little secret: every Love Me Gluten Free box is incredibly fun to curate, but also a little agonizing. Pepperidge Farm confirmed this week that gluten-free Goldfish are coming in November. Who's ready to eat cheesy little fish crackers again?! 🙋♀️ ⭐️ MadeGood Discontinues Star Puffed CrackersIn sad but somewhat related news, MadeGood discontinued its Star Puffed Crackers in the U.S. and Canada as of June 30, including Cheddar, Pizza, and Sea Salt flavors. You may still spot some leftover inventory in stores, but no new product is being made. Perhaps gluten-free Goldfish are arriving just in time. 🐟 🤦♂️ Gluten-Free Influencer Gets RoastedA gluten-free influencer caused a stir after calling gluten-free Goldfish "the worst thing happening to our community." He questioned why we're "banding together" to make unhealthy foods gluten-free and suggested processed foods are contributing to our symptoms. Let's just say the comments didn't go over well, with many accusing him of hypocrisy and food shaming. Here's my take: People with celiac disease are already restricted enough. We don't need to make each other feel bad for wanting a Goldfish cracker. I'll admit, earlier in my nutrition journey, I might have been young and naive in my thinking. Of course, a diet filled with ultra-processed foods isn't ideal for anyone. But food is also about joy, nostalgia, convenience, and sometimes simply feeling normal. The celiac community has been overlooked for far too long. When a major company finally makes a beloved product for us, let's celebrate having the choice. Eat the Goldfish. Or don't. Just don't judge someone else for being excited that they finally can. ❤️ 🍝 Barilla Changed Its GF Pasta. Have You Noticed?Barilla quietly reformulated its gluten-free pasta a few months ago, swapping its corn-forward blend for a rice-forward recipe and removing the mono- and diglycerides. The new "2 ingredient" formula sounds cleaner on paper, but longtime fans aren't exactly celebrating. Complaints about gummy, sticky pasta are piling up online, with some customers begging Barilla to bring the old recipe back. I recently tried Barilla and thought it was fine, but definitely not my favorite. Give me DeLallo, Goodles, Jovial, Rummo, or Tinkyada any day. Have you tried the new Barilla recipe? What do you think? -- Whew, there was a lot happening in gluten-free land this week! Thanks for reading, sharing your thoughts, and being part of this community. Hello Reader, Honestly, friends, I can't make this stuff up. Spanx founder Sara Blakely recently shared a video from her trip to Italy on Instagram, saying that she and a friend "are two girls who are gluten-free and ate every single thing with gluten in Italy." She also showed the heavy suitcases full of Italian flour they brought home. Whether intentional or not, posts like these reinforce one of the biggest myths in the gluten-free community: that people with celiac disease can somehow...
Hello Reader, Last week, I shared three really stupid ways I've accidentally glutened myself. 😅 Your responses were fun to read, as many of you replied with your own stories. As it turns out, many of us have bought the wrong version of a product. I mentioned how I've been confused by Goodles, Bob's Red Mill, and Van's Waffles, since they all make a gluten-free and gluten-full version, but you all added even more to my list - spot the differences? Be careful out there... 3 Gluten-Free "Rules"...
Hello Reader, Happy Friday! 💛 Living gluten-free isn't about being perfect -- it's about doing our best, learning from our mistakes, and hopefully laughing about them later. This week I'm sharing a few of my more embarrassing gluten-free blunders, because, apparently, 14 years of living with celiac disease doesn't make me or anyone immune to dumb mistakes. 😅 I'm also going to share findings from a recent celiac study, and I have some exciting news to share about Love Me Gluten Free... Let's...
