Hello Reader, Happy Friday! There are lots of exciting things happening in the gluten-free world this week, from promising new celiac research to new products hitting store shelves. I've rounded up the news that's worth your attention -- plus a fun giveaway and one of my new favorite summer finds. Let's dive in! Could This Be the End of the Gluten Challenge? If you've ever put off getting tested for celiac disease because you couldn't imagine eating gluten again, this news is for you. Researchers in Australia have developed a promising new blood test, called the WBAIL-2 assay, that may one day help diagnose celiac disease without requiring people to start eating gluten again. As many of you know, today's blood tests are only accurate if you're eating gluten regularly, so in order to get tested for celiac disease, you must be regularly eating gluten. Reintroducing gluten can be a miserable process for someone who's already removed gluten from their diet. In an early study, the WBAIL-2 assay correctly identified about 90% of people with celiac disease, with even higher accuracy in those carrying the most common celiac gene. There's still more research to be done before this becomes widely available, and I'm hopeful it will be available soon! Gluten-Free News You Can Read in 60 Secondsπ₯Ί Safely Delicious is closing.
