🔎 Life Before Gluten-Free Labeling Laws | ❗Recall Alert | 🏷️ New GF Discounts for You

Hello Reader,

My husband and daughter are off visiting schools this week, which means I'm home alone… and not really in the mood to cook. Yesterday’s meals? Cracker nachos (aka Crachos) and a bowl of fresh pasta.

I know—my eating habits revert to those of a teenager when I’m home alone. 😂

Before I share this week's news and updates, I wanted to let you know that my jam-packed November Love Me Gluten Free box is available for pre-order. 🙌

Can We Make Crachos a Thing?

Crachos are cracker nachos—a twist on traditional nachos. Instead of tortilla chips, you use sturdy crackers (like Crunchmaster Avocado Toast Crackers) to create a single layer, then top each cracker with beans, salsa, cheese, and any toppings you love. Bake until bubbly and crispy, and every bite is perfectly coated—no sliding toppings, just crunchy perfection.

Thank you, Crunchmaster, for inspiring and sponsoring this recipe idea. Yum!

Life Before GF Labeling Laws

It’s hard to believe, but there was a time when gluten-free labeling laws didn’t exist—this was the case when Jules Shepard, founder of GF Jules, was diagnosed with celiac disease.

Jules, along with others, famously baked the tallest gluten-free cake and stood before the FDA to force the creation of standardized gluten-free guidelines. Her tenacity has made eating gluten-free much easier for all of us.

I chat with Jules in my latest episode of Gluten Free Unwrapped, where she shares her battle with the FDA, how she created one of the first all-purpose gluten-free flour blends, and her deeply personal business struggles along the way.

Taco Bell Woes

I just shared an Instagram post about a product you might not have realized contains gluten: Taco Bell’s Crunchy Taco.

It contains oats, but there's no Information about the source.

I wrote more about this topic—and even tested the tacos with a Nima Sensor back when mine was working. I also tested several other items at Taco Bell in addition to the Crunchy Taco, so be sure to check out my full article.

An Actual Nima Update

You haven’t heard me talk about Nima in ages—and for good reason. The company has been a hot mess, and sourcing test capsules has been unreliable.

But a few weeks ago, we got a sign of life: Nima replaced their CEO and announced a full product relaunch in January. I hope it's true - but I guess we'll have to wait and see.

(If you’re wondering, what is Nima?, read this article.)

Hello Reader, To celebrate the Jewish New Year, I did something I've never done before. I completely unplugged for two full days. I didn't touch my phone or computer for 48 hours. Yes, it was wonderful to step away from technology and focus on myself. But I won’t lie, it was also hard. The temptation to use my device was intense. But here’s the thing: Everything waited for my return, and nothing "bad" happened while I unplugged. My husband and I are going to try to completely unplug every...
