My Potentially Controversial Take on Sushi | LEO Gluten Tester | Legit Soup Dumplings

Hello Reader,

This weekend would normally be "packing weekend" for my Love Me Gluten Free subscription boxes.

But instead of packing 1300 boxes, I will be spending time with my family, taking a class at Orange Theory, and doing some pre-Passover cleaning. How is this possible, you ask?

As many of you know, my family and I have been prepping and packing LMGF boxes for a full year. While I love my business, the physical parts have taken their toll on me and my husband.

When we realized this wasn't sustainable for us to do ourselves, we decided to engage a fulfillment center to help us with the heavy lifting. My family will agree that I've been much happier and bearable this month. Cheers to this new chapter in my business! 🥂

Of Note:

Our April box ships on Monday and is sold out. Join our waitlist.

Join me on Facebook Live on Friday, April 4th, at 11 am Central to unbox the April box together. This is our very special "Birthday" themed box to celebrate our one-year anniversary. RSVP HERE.

Looking for a sweet Mother's Day gift? We'll be offering a limited number of Mother's Day Gift Subscriptions soon. Join our Mother's Day Waitlist to be the first to be notified when they are available.

My Potentially Controversial Take on Sushi

For years, I unnecessarily avoided grocery-store sushi out of fear I would get "glutened." However, I've since reconsidered my stance. Being able to grab sushi at the store is a great lunch option in a pinch ... and truth be told, I missed it.

Take a look at this sushi from Whole Foods. While it says it contains wheat, if you're a ninja label reader, you know that the sushi itself doesn't contain wheat. The soy sauce packet contains wheat, and you can easily toss that into the trash. I even keep tamari packets in my purse for times like this.

I can already see the email protests piling up in my inbox, so let me address a few things I hope will deter you from replying with a firey email:

(1) I buy only plain sushi - like this salmon and avocado roll. I avoid sushi with sauces, mix-ins, toppings, and imitation crab. Read the ingredient list carefully.

(2) Cross-contamination is always possible; however, I know from nearly 13 years of experience and observation that food surfaces are cleaned between "flavors."

(3) If the idea of eating grocery-store sushi worries you, don't do it. I just want to challenge conventionally held beliefs and help you loosen the reins while still staying safe. I firmly believe there is no need to over-restrict yourself, and there is such a thing as being "too gluten-free."

Meet LEO

I received an email yesterday about a new gluten tester called LEO, which stands for Love Eating Out. It looks like a Covid test and promises to test your food for hidden gluten without a Nima-like device attached to it.

The company sent a blast email launching it, and I was on that list. Many of you are as well because dozens of you forwarded the email to me, which I loved! 😊

However, I don't have any information to share and I can't give you my opinion on it until I try it. I will say, however, that I'm hopeful it's better than Nima. I've lost faith in Nima.

Legit Soup Dumplings

Have you tried the Soup Dumplings from Feel Good Foods? Holy moly, these are amazing!! 10/10. I spotted these babies at Whole Foods last week. Go. Get. This!

New Crunchmaster Flavors

If you have a Publix near you (sadly, we don't have Publix in Denver), you can try the two new Crunchmaster flavors: Mexican Street Corn and Pimento Cheese. I'm dying to get my hands on them. Remember, all Crunchmaster crackers are certified gluten-free, and we're grateful for our long-standing partnership with this trusted + delicious brand.

Have a wonderful weekend, friends!

Sincerely,

Jenny 🩷
