Nima's Gone Dark

If you've followed me for the past 10+ years, you know I've been an advocate for Nima Sensor, a portable gluten-detecting device that enables you to test your food for hidden gluten.

I loved working with the visionary founders to share this device when it first came out and over the years. It's been hard to let go of something I've loved for so long, but it's time.

In 2020, the company was acquired by a medical device company, and while I tried to work with the new CEO, it was evident we didn't see eye-to-eye. The company has been riddled with poor leadership and massive supply chain issues since.

After being radio silent for months, taking down their website, and leaving users in the dark about its fate, Nima Partners sent the following message this week:

A few things about this message:

I've heard it before. It's almost as if they cut and paste the same message every few months. Plus, they say 2023 (vs 2024). Total cut and paste job, right? I feel like we're in an abusive relationship where they say "I'm sorry" over and over again but then go on and do us dirty time and time again.

For the past four years, all messages have been signed by the CEO, Dave Dellafave, who likes to call himself the "co-founder" of Nima and still does on his LinkedIn profile. I assure you, he founded nothing. The original founder is the brilliant Shireen Yates. Dave's name is missing from this message. Maybe he's part of the "restructuring" alluded to in the message.

I will not recommend Nima Partners until the company changes its leadership, proves that it can stock consistent inventory, and makes strides to reduce the cost of its single-use test capsules.

Meanwhile, the Allergy Amulet Says...

The Allergy Amulet is a formidable competitor to Nima. It's a wearable device that detects hidden gluten and other allergens inside any food you test.

The Allergy Amulet has been telling us for years that they're getting ready to launch ... and, well, we're still waiting.

However, they received a massive influx of capital last year, and I received a message from them this week saying, "We’re closing in on a firm shop-open date. Our Amulets are being manufactured as we speak!"

I can't wait to get my hands on an Allergy Amulet and share it with you. 🤞

New Recipe: Creamy Roasted Red Pepper Hummus

I created this creamy roasted red pepper hummus in partnership with Crunchmaster. If you're looking for a simple, flavorful recipe to elevate your gluten-free snacking game, this dip is it!

I love it because it's the perfect blend of creamy, smoky, and zesty flavors and uses only wholesome ingredients like chickpeas, tahini, and roasted red peppers. I like to pair it with crudités and Crunchmaster crackers for easy and wholesome snacking.

BFree For the Win!

I've partnered with BFree twice this month to share their amazing tortilla wraps with you.

First, go to Costco ASAP to pick up a 12-pack of the BFree High Protein Carb Savvy Wraps. I found them at Denver Costcos, and I know they're available at Costco locations in LA, San Diego, and Dallas.

Each wrap has 11 grams of protein and six grams of fiber and contains only 90 calories and three net carbs. I made a chopped turkey salad wrap, which you can watch me make HERE.

Second, I included the BFree Sweet Potato Wraps in my January box. These wraps are made from ground sweet potato flour, which adds a hint of natural sweetness and loads of fiber. They're also extra sturdy, so they bend without breaking, which is truly a gluten-free miracle!

If you haven't tried a BFree wrap before, you're in for a real treat ... and you're welcome!

Two GF Expos in March

There are two upcoming gluten-free expos, both of which offer a great way to sample foods and feel loved!

A New Book Recommendation

My friend Caroline published a book, A Simple Healthy Life, this week. I've known Caroline for a while. We met during my Denver Blogger Club days, and I think the world of her.

She asked me to read and review her book last year (before it was published).

Here's what I said in my review, which is published in her book and on her Amazon page:

"In A Simply Healthy Life, Caroline Fausel teaches us to put self-care at the forefront of our busy lives. She outlines a simple formula that touches on many aspects of life, including how to find food that nourishes our bodies, how to free our homes from toxins, how to build meaningful friendships and lasting relationships, and best of all, how to create a life filled with intention, purpose, and faith. Caroline gently nudges us to create new habits and reminds us that it’s never too late to change the course of our lives for the better. I, for one, am grateful for Caroline’s loving advice, strong faith, and guiding wisdom, all of which shine through on every page of this book." -Jenny Levine Finke, author of Dear Gluten, It’s Not Me, It’s You

Simple Mills Acquired

Flower Foods acquired Simple Mills this week for $795 million in cash. In 2018, Flower Foods acquired another beloved gluten-free brand: Canyon Bakehouse.

Free Omer

It's been 461 days since Omer Shem Tov, a young Israeli man with celiac disease, was taken hostage. I think about him every day and even said to my husband that I'm shipping Omer a Love Me Gluten Free box when he returns! Please pray for Omer. This is HIS STORY.

Sincerely,

Jenny 🩷

Hello Reader, I've got a busy weekend ahead of me. We're packing our February Love Me Gluten Free boxes. I created Love Me Gluten Free so that you could sample all the fun goodies I got to sample as a blogger. It's so much more fun, isn't it?!? If you reserved a February box, it ships on Monday! 🙌 We don't have any February...

Hello Reader, "What happens if you eat gluten?" I'm asked this question the most by well-meaning new friends. Given my profession and strict 100% diet, I'm a magnet for questions about my diet. Of course, I don't mind sharing, and I honestly like it when people ask questions. If you're curious how I answer the "What happens when you eat gluten?" question (hint: 🚽) or you want to see the other top questions about celiac disease I'm asked all the time, read my article, I Have Celiac Disease,...
